Buyende, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | The Kyabazinga of Busoga, Gabula Nadiope IV has said that, unity and hardwork have been the foundation of his 10 year reign.
The Kyabazinga was speaking at Bukungu Primary school, in Buyende district, where hundreds of his subjects joined him to celebrate 10 years on the throne.
The subjects were delighted to see Kyabazinga in the company of the ihnebantu Jovia Mutesi.
Kyabazinga noted that unity and hardwork have attracted numerous investors, who have since established investments, which are a source of employment for the youth.
Kyabazinga further noted that unity has also attracted the central government to increase investments in infrastructural projects, which are key economic drivers.
He adds that, through close collaboration with the government, they have rolled out plans to construct the state of art Busoga Kingdom headquarters, where administrative duties of the kingdom will be smoothly executed.
However, the Kyabazinga re-echoed the call on government to spearhead the return of Busoga Kingdom property, which he says will help them to generate funds.
Through the Budiope West MP, Ibrahim Kyoto, the fishermen informed the Kyabazinga on how restricted fishing of silver fish was overtime crippling them financially.
The 1st Deputy premier, Rebecca Kadaga urged all members within the fishing community to openly speak up against any form of economic abuse.
Kadaga revealed that, President Museveni will be pitching camp in Buyende district over wealth creation drives and it is the only opportunity the fishermen will have to air out their grievances.
Kadaga further noted that, it was unfair for the fisheries protection unit-FPU to enforce operations against fishermen while other bodies have failed in their role of blocking illegal gears from penetrating the markets.
Kadaga argued that, save for the small boats, all other illegal fishing gears are imported and FPU operations can only succeed if the border points are sealed off to deter infiltration of unwanted goods within the markets.
