Kyamuswa FDC parliamentary candidate in fix over NRM posters

Kalangala, Uganda |  THE INDEPENDENT | Moses Kabuusu, the Kyamuswa County Forum for Democratic Change-FDC parliamentary candidate in Kalangala district has raised a red flag over posters circulating in the constituency indicating that he is running for the Busiro South seat in Wakiso district on the National Resistance Movement-NRM ticket.

The posters are printed in the NRM yellow colour and bear the party symbol of a bus and logo. The poster carries a message saying “If not Peter Ssematimba then Kabuusu Moses.”  According to Kabuusu, the posters are being circulated by his rivals with intentions of diverting his support.

He has appealed to voters to disregard any information portraying him as NRM candidate.

Kabuusu represented Kyamuswa County in parliament between 2006 and 2011 as an independent. He is currently facing competition from three other candidates including NRM’s, Carol Nanyondo Birungi, NUP’s Cyrus Kambugu and independent candidate, John Mwesigye.

Birungi has denied having a role in the posters, saying “I’m busy looking for votes rather than playing comedy with Kabuusu Moses”. Cyrus Kambugu, the NUP parliamentary candidate, says the posters were brought by Kabuusu’s supporters from Busiro South.

John Mwesigwa, says he is not concerned with Kabuusu contesting as an NRM candidate in another County. Everyone has access to posters and voters will decide on whom to vote.

John Kiyimba, a resident in Kisaba Landing site says voters are confused with the ongoing developments.  “The posters are everywhere in Kyamuswa County. Let Kabuusu tell us his right party instead of confusing voters,” he said. Uganda goes to the polls three days to the polls to elect a president and members of parliament on Thursday this week.
