Police have commenced investigations into the fire incident
Jinja, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Police in Jinja district is investigating circumstances under which the house belonging to Kakira town council LC 3 chairperson, Charles Kabuule was torched on Thursday night.
It is suspected that arsonists stormed Kabuule’s house located in Polota B village in Kakira town council, Jinja district at about 1:00 am.
Kabuule told journalists that the fire erupted at around 1:00 am when they were already asleep. He however made it clear that no one was injured. “I noticed smoke from the children’s bedroom at about 1:15am and broke into their room and rescued all of them,” said Kabuule.
Kabuule’s wife, Rinah Namata says they lost all household items including their academic documents and two land titles. “Our house is comprised of five bedrooms and all the property contained there was burnt,” says Rinah Namata.
Namata however says that while inspecting the scene of the crime on Friday morning, they retrieved a jerrycan of fuel which had been dumped about five meters away from the burnt house.
The Kiira region police spokesperson Abbey Ngako confirms the incident adding that they are investing the matter.
