Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Friends and family have eulogized the late Lt. General Onesmus Pecos Kutesa
Kutesa died on Tuesday in India where he had traveled for a liver transplant. He was hospitalized in India where he spent over four months in a coma having been diagnosed with liver necrosis-an acute damage of the liver.

Lt. General James Mugira, the Managing Director of the National Enterprise Corporation, says Kutesa was an icon of the NRA liberation struggle.
Maj. General Kashaka, a friend to the deceased described Kutesa as a great friend, intellectual and brave man.
He traces their friendship to 1979 when they both joined the struggle against then-President Idi Amin. They also joined the NRA struggle and carried out several operations together.
Kutesa will be laid to rest on Sunday at his home in Kabura, Lyantonde district.
Parliament will convene a special session to pay tribute to Kutesa next Tuesday. Kutesa was an MP representing the army in the 10th Parliament.
