Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Kampala Police have arrested a 35-year-old man identified as Herbert Kaddu who allegedly forced his way into Namirembe Cathedral on Sunday.
The suspect, a resident of Makay Zone in Rubaga, came cruising in a Super Custom vehicle number UAS 329T on the day. He held onto a traditional stick and a bark cloth, ran towards the alter while the Bishop of Namirembe Diocese Rt. Rev. Wilberforce Kityo Luwalira was presiding over an Easter Service.
He is now being detained at Namirembe Police.
Deputy police spokesperson Patrick Onyango confirmed that a medical examination revealed that Kaddu is not mentally incapacitated. Investigations are now underway and the man will be charged with attempting violence on the bishop and threatening the peace of the religious gathering.
