Kabale, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | A 29-year-old man in Kabale district is in trouble for allegedly raping his 77-year-old mother. The suspect has been identified as Justus Byamukama, a resident of Kashenyi village, Katenga parish in Kamuganguzi sub county.
Elias Twesigomwe, the Kamuganguzi sub-county LC 3 chairperson says the suspect intercepted his elderly mother around 8 pm on Sunday evening as she was returning from Hakatusi trading center.
He reportedly dragged the victim to a nearby garden where he raped her while threatening to kill her should she raise alarm. Elly Maate, the Kigezi region police spokesperson says the victim reported the incident to the village chairperson who mobilized residents to hunt for the suspect.
He was arrested around 6 pm on Monday evening.
Maate says police intervened and whisked the suspect to Kabale police station as residents threatened to lynch him.
