Manchester, UK | PREMIER LEAGUE . COM | Manchester United recorded a 3-0 victory over Nottingham Forest thanks to goals from Marcus Rashford, Antony Martial and Fred to close the gap on the top four.

Rashford found the top-left corner of the net in the 19th minute following a clever set-piece routine in which Christian Eriksen delivered a low corner into the penalty area.

United added a second three minutes later, when Martial’s low effort from the edge of the penalty area was too hot for Wayne Hennessey.

Fred added the third on 87 minutes after converting from close range, sliding the ball into the right side of the net after being played in by Casemiro.

Man Utd’s victory means they are now within one point of fourth placed Tottenham Hotspur with a match in hand. Forest, meanwhile, drop to 19th.

Chelsea ease past AFC Bournemouth

Chelsea claimed a comfortable 2-0 victory over AFC Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge thanks to first-half goals from Kai Havertz and Mason Mount.

The German converted from close range in the 16th minute following Raheem Sterling’s low cross from the right.

The Blues then gained control of the contest when Havertz then turned provider to set up Mount who found the bottom right-corner from 20 yards out eight minutes later.

The result, however, was slightly tainted when Reece James was substituted off early in the second-half after appearing to pick up an injury.

Graham Potter’s side end a five match winless run to move up to eighth with 24 points, six behind Spurs. The Cherries meanwhile remain in 14th on 16 points.

Man City to close gap on Arsenal?

Third-placed Manchester City will bring Matchweek 17 to a close with a trip to Leeds United on Wednesday.

Having lost 2-1 at home to Brentford in their last Premier League match before the FIFA World Cup 2022, Man City are looking to move back to within five points of leaders Arsenal.

Pep Guardiola’s side have not lost consecutive league matches since December 2018, while Leeds are searching for their first home Premier League win in eight attempts against reigning PL champions.
