Jubilee Insurance hosts Miria Matembe ahead of Women’s Day celebrations

Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT |  Jubilee Insurance has hosted Miria Matembe a former legislator and minister in the current government to talk to its female staff ahead of today’s Women’s Day celebrations.

Matembe, a women leader and activist advised female employees at Jubilee Insurance to define their purpose in life and live with it to draw public respect.

Matembe was speaking at a Jubilee Insurance International Women’s Day (IWD) event held at the company’s headquarters in Kampala on March 7 ahead of the International Women’s Day Celebrations scheduled for March 8.

“You (women) are the guest honour on earth. Respect yourself by living a meaningful life,” Matembe said. She urged them to be strong believers in God and live a life that hurts nobody. “Even at the workplace, do not compete with anyone. Do your work and complement each other,” she said.

In terms of marriage, Matembe urged the female workers to identify the good characteristics of their husbands and stick to them if they were to have a long-lasting relationship.

“Do not look at the bad things in your husband if you want to have a good marriage. Ignore small, small things apart from beating,” he said, before telling them that her approach has seen her stay in marriage for the last 48 years.

Camilla Mindru, the Jubilee Insurance Marketing and Communications Manager said, “As Jubilee, we believe that women play an important role in life when it comes to boosting social-economic transformation. Senior women/citizens like Miria Matembe are women for most young female employees to look up to when it comes to defining their life purpose.”

As Jubilee Insurance, we would like to join the rest of the world in celebrating IWD and promise to support women in line with our business goals.

The International Women’s Day 2024 theme is “Inspire Inclusion.”

When we inspire others to understand and value women’s inclusion, we forge a better world according to the theme thinkers.

Matembe said that when women are inspired to be included, there is a sense of belonging, relevance, and empowerment.

Dorcus Kuhimbisa, the Chief Operating Officer of Jubilee Insurance Company Uganda said, “We thought it was important to do something different for the Jubilee ladies, to recognize efforts of women all over the world and have a powerful woman like Hon Miria Matembe share words of wisdom that would empower you to inspire inclusion.”
