Matsiko wins Katogo Invitational at Entebbe Club

Winners cheer at the 19th hole at the I and M Bank Katogo Invitationa

Entebbe, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Alexander Matsiko beat a huge field 144 golfers in the inaugural Katogo Invitational Golf tournament held at the Lakeside Entebbe Club on Saturday.

Matsiko returned a score of 65 nett to claim the overall prize plus win his category in Group A in this event that was played under ‘Me Too format’, the first time it’s being used at the prestigious and East Africa’s Oldest Club. Joseph Bogera, finished runner up with 67 nett on count back.

Herbert Olowo, was on the podium to claim his category in Group B with 63 nett on count back.
Henry Ssali, Managing Director of Pivot Media, claimed Group C with 61 nett while Diana Nabukenya, was the Ladies winner with 66 nett.

I and M Bank Uganda has become a key sponsor of Golf in the country and stated why they choose to sponsor this event and Golf in particular.

“We are proud of creating consumer connection moments for our high network corporate banking customers and that is why we are sponsoring this event,” Mwihaki Wachira, the Group Head of Marketing and Communications said in her speech. “It also gives us an opportunity for people to play golf and network plus business on the course.”

Other sponsors included Rwanda Air, Renault Uganda, who staked a brand new car on Hole 10, which wasn’t claimed together with GA Insurance and Fenon Events. The next invitational will be held at the same club in December, according to a press release from the club.
