Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Golfers from various clubs in the country on Friday raised sh80 million for up country club Mbale at a one-day tournament at the Uganda Golf Club in Kampala.
Mbale Sports Club, are fundraising to buy a tractor and a gungmower to enable them maintain there golf course. “We are grateful and happy to have raised this amount of money for the tractor and gungmower,” Joseph Okudi, the captain of Mbale Sports Club said. “Our target is sh120 million and so far so good. This is a good start for the club.”
According to a press release from UGC, Challengers team where the overall winners in the one day Mbale club fundraiser event with 116 Stableford points and was made up of Samson Agamile, Andrew Baguma, Yunus Bbale, Dennis Kahindi.
Sarah Babirye Kityo with 44 points was the individual overall winner while Tarzan Lubega with 40 points was the winner Men Group A.
Joseph Nkurunziza, the Chairman of Jinja Club was winner Group B with 40 points, Isaiah Tugumenawe was winner Group C with 40 points on count back.
Sarah Nduhukire with 38 points claimed Ladies Group A while Charity Opolot, with 39 points was winner Group B while Daniel Kalimuzo with 38 points was the seniors winner.
The Uganda Golf Union, has over the years revived the 16-hole course that had been encroached by land grabbers.
