Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | A suspected state house imposter is in custody at Mbarara Central Police Station. Deo Muhanguzi was picked up on Monday on the orders of Emmy Kateera Turyabagyenyi, the Mbarara Deputy Resident District Commissioner.
According to Kateera, the suspect has been masquerading as a state house employee under the name JohnBosco Kwesiga to extort money from unsuspecting members of the public. He reportedly approached JB International School in Mbarara district claiming that he would them access the state house scholarship scheme.
Kateera says the suspect managed to con Shillings 50,000 from over 200 parents from Mbarara and Ntungamo districts. Katera cautions locals to desist from the habit of rushing to deal with people who do not use the leadership structures in the area where they come from saying that this compromises them and hence making victims of fraudsters.
Samson Kasasira, the Rwizi Region Police Spokesperson, says Muhanguzi was found in possession of a purported identity card from State House, forged documents and stamps in the names of Kwesiga John Bosco.
