Rukungiri, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | A 27-year-old barber in Rukungiri District who went missing on Christmas day has been found dead hanging in a school toilet.
Kennedy Akankwasa a barber in Rukungiri town and a resident of Katungu village, Kigaga ward, Southern division in Rukungiri Municipality went missing on December 25, 2022, according to his relative Paul Muheki.
Muheki said that Akankwasa left home for the nearby Kakonkoma trading center in Nyakagyeme sub-county. Akankwasa however did not return, prompting locals to raise suspicion.
Efforts to find him remained futile until Saturday when his body was found hanging in a toilet at Kakonkoma Primary School.
Elly Maate, the Police Spokesperson for Kigezi region said that Akankwasa’s body has been taken to Rwakabengo Health Center IV in Rukungiri Municipality for postmortem.
Maate however said that investigations are ongoing to establish if he was killed and then hanged or committed suicide.
