Bushenyi, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Kasambya County Member of Parliament (MP) Mbwatekamwa Gaffa was released on police bond after spending five hours in custody at the Bushenyi central police station.
Mbwatekamwa was arrested shortly after he had donated an ambulance to Kakanju health center III in Kakanju sub county on Sunday.
Bushenyi District Police Commander Joel Komakech confirmed that Mbwatekamwa had been arrested and charged and later released on bond.
“Yes he was arrested and we have released him on police bond,” said Komakech. He said that Mbwatekamwa was not arrested from the venue where he donated his ambulance but from a different location.
Mbwatekamwa refuted allegations that he was arrested from a different location saying he only tried to walk away from the venue when they stopped him.
He is among the people who have expressed interest to unseat the Igara West Member of Parliament and Minister Raphael Magyezi.
