The Police arrested controversial Lwemiyaga County MP Theodore Ssekikubo Monday night after a long week of summons over statements concerning Nebanda’s death.
According to some sources, Ssekikubo was arrested at City Oil Petrol Station along Bombo Road by plain-clothed detectives over comments he allegedly made last year about the government having had a hand in Butaleja Woman MP Cerinah Nebanda’s death
Ssekikuubo’s detention comes after signing a petition to recall Parliament. Sekikuubo’s house was earlier besieged by detectives before they arrested him
Medard Lubega Sseggona the Busiro East MP who with Ssekikubo has been leading the campaign to recall Parliament confirmed the arrest of Ssekikubo yesterday while featuring on Akabbinkano a political talk show on Bukedde TV.
Sseggona said that there were no official summons directed to them by the Police and he condemned the manner in which Police arrests the legislators.
On 24th Dec 2012, detectives stormed the residence of Kampala Central MP Mohammed Nsereko in Old Kampala where he was arrested for similar claims on Nebanda’s death. The MP was transferred to the Police Special Investigations Unit (SIU) headquarters in Kireka for grilling.
