Kalungu County West Member of Parliament Joseph Ssewungu Gonzaga has petitioned Uganda National Examination Board to start releasing Primary Leaving Exams and Uganda Certificate of Education results in two different categories.
The MP wants the results by Universal Primary Education/universal Secondary Education released separately with privately owned schools to be able to evaluate the student’s performance.
Ssewungu who is also a member of the Parliamentary Committee on Education was speaking before journalists in Kampala on Tuesday and issued the letter on the parliament headed paper.
In his letter addressed to the Secretary General of UNEB, copied to the Minister for Education and State Minister for Primary Education, Ssewungu states that, it will help to determine and make a good evaluation about the performance of the children who are funded by government.
Secondly, he says that it will help to compare the standards of teaching done between the private and UPE/USE teachers.
He also requests that government will be able to evaluate itself that is whether the money put in UPE/USE is yielding.
He said that he wants the government to improve on the budget to the education sector and he is still lobbying NRM MPs to join him.
