MTN Uganda launches country wide Hotspots

MTN Uganda has launched a new Wi-Fi service that provides a number of hotspots around the country.

This service will be accessed by MTN and non MTN customers who have Wi-Fi capable devices in areas where the MTN Wi-Fi hotspots are located.


To use this service all customers are required to register and MTN customers will need to have an internet bundle of airtime on their numbers while non MTN customers will load airtime on their registered accounts on the portal to access the service.

This service has come at a time when MTN is cementing its position as the number one internet provider offering world class internet services in the country.

“Over the past year MTN introduced 3G+ internet which was further improved and widened to deliver the newly improved speed close to 1 million that customers supported with the wildest network coverage, a wide range of devices and affordable tariffs”, Ernst Fonternel the chief marketing Officer MTN Uganda said.

In the same year MTN Uganda rolled out an additional 600KM of fibre infrastructure increasing it with 2,800km of fibre to provide the capacity for high speed data connectivity and wider national coverage of 3G mobile service that extends internet access to rural areas of Uganda.

Fonternel said that the Wi Fi service is an investment on the part of MTN aimed at providing customers with the best possible user experience across the country.

He said he is happy MTN will be able to provide their customers with this world class internet that promises Speed, convenience, coverage and affordability.
