Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Authorities at Mulago National Referral Hospital have announced that 21 people who were injured in yesterday’s twin bomb blasts will be discharged today.
Health officials said the 21 people who suffered minor injuries that have been attended to, can now recuperate from their homes.
The 21 are part of 35 bomb victims that the hospital admitted yesterday following bomb blasts that happened at the Central Police Station on Buganda road and the IPS building along Parliamentary Avenue.
Dr. Baterana Byarugaba, the executive director of Mulago says the patients being discharged had very minor injuries and can now go back home. He says most of them attained single injuries.
As of yesterday evening, five of the injured persons were in critical condition. Byarugaba says that only two people are now in critical condition and are admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital.
Twelve other injured people will remain at the hospital to undergo treatment and observation. Dr Byarugaba says many of these had multiple injuries and need more care.
“All the other patients suffered different soft tissue and deep injuries. Some people had multiple injuries while others had one. We have treated them all and have sent them to different respective wards where they are undergoing treatment,” he added.
Among the injured who were admitted at the hospital, 27 were males while eight were female. According to Dr. Byarugaba, one male died yesterday.
