Ben Paul Mungyereza has been appointed as the new executive director of the Uganda Bureau of Statistics effective Nov. 26, the statistics body said in a statement dated Nov. 26.
Mungyereza replaces John B Male-Mukasa who retired at the end of his contract on Nov. 22, having served as the first executive director for 13 years.
Mungyereza is an accomplished professional holding a Bachelor of Statistics degree of Makerere University, MA Development Planning – UN Institute for Economic Development & Planning, Dakar, Senegal; MSc Development Economics – Oxford University, UK.
He is currently pursuing a PhD in Economics at Makerere University. He has a solid work experience built through the years, having worked as a Statistician in the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries from 1991-1993, Lecturer at the Institute of Statistics and Applied Economics at Makerere University from 1994-2002, Young Professional on attachment at the Economic Policy Research Centre (EPRC), Makerere from 1995-1998, Principal Statistician at Ubos from 2002-2005, Director Statistical Coordination Services at Ubos from 2006-2009.
Prior to this position he was the Deputy Executive Director in charge of Statistical Production and at Ubos.
