Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | President Yoweri Museveni has donated Shillings 60 million towards the construction of St. Stephen Catholic Parish and St. Paul Church of Uganda in Katakwi district.
Museveni delivered the money through the Vice President, Retired Major Jessica Alupo Epel.
She noted that the president was aware of the burden the Christians were facing to construct both churches.
I was blessed to be at St. Paul’s C.O.U Katakwi & later at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church. It was a great Sunday. I delivered at each of these Churches sh30m; totalling to sh60m from H.E President @KagutaMuseveni. Thank you Your Excellency! Kind regards from your people. pic.twitter.com/nvbVgD0u7G

Rev. Fr. Remi Nyengere, the Dean of Katakwi and St. Stephen Catholic Parish priest who received the money explained that they have so far injected Shillings 1 billion into the project, adding that they need at least another Shillings 1 billlion to complete the construction.
Nyengere said the president’s donation has come at the right time because they were struggling to raise money for the project.
Some of the Christians who witnessed the delivery of the money such as Charles Aleper and Raphael Ojakal described Alupo and President Museveni as true leaders.
