Entebbe, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | State House has issued a statement, warning that a letter circulating on social media purportedly authored by the President of Uganda Yoweri Museveni, is forged.
In the letter that is circulating, the AG, IGG, DPP and NRM caucus are questioned as to why they have not investigated the reported sharing of over sh1billion as service awards by the Parlimentary Commission. Mpuuga reportedly got sh500m as a service award soon after becoming the Leader of the Opposition, a position he has since lost.
The “service award” was allegedly part of the 1.7 billion shillings that was irregularly allocated to Parliamentary Commissioners who included three back-bench MPS from the ruling NRM Party. Each of the three Commissioners from the NRM reportedly received 400 million shillings.
It has been made known to the public that the letter shared on social media, claiming to be written by President @KagutaMuseveni regarding service awards for Parliamentary Commissioners, is fake and should not be trusted – PPU@kirunda_faruk @StateHouseUg @IsaacMuwongeK pic.twitter.com/LrNLrme3PB
