President Yoweri Museveni is in Luanda, Angola for the 6th Ordinary Heads of State and Government Summit of The International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR).
The Summit is being held under the theme “Accelerating the effective implementation of the Pact and its Protocols for a more democratic and stable Great Lakes Region”.
Member states are Angola, Burundi, Central African Republic, Republic of Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Republic of South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania and Zambia.
Angolan President Jose Eduardo dos Santos is the current chair of ICGRL.

The summit was preceded by the meetings of ICGLR Chiefs of Defence Forces, the ICGLR Ministers of Defence and ICGLR Ministers of Foreign Affairs.
According to reports, a new executive secretary and a deputy will also be elected during the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region.
