Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni who is also the National Chairman of the NRM party and its flagbearer, will be nominated to contest for the 2021 elections at Kyambogo grounds today.
The Secretary General Justine Kasule Lumumba will officially present the party’s candidate to the Uganda Electoral Commission at exactly 10am. Both the Secretary General and the President are expected to travel in a yellow bus – an official symbol for NRM.
After nomination, the Chairman of the ruling Party will launch the NRM manifesto for 2021-2026, anchored on the theme “Securing Your Future” at Speke Resort Munyonyo.
The manifesto is the final work of a 14-member committee chaired by the Justice and Constitutional Affairs Minister Prof. Ephraim Kamuntu and deputized by the NRM deputy Secretary General, Richard Todwong.
The NRM party Secretary General Lumumba said that like the previous manifestos, the present one will further push forward the implementation of the four NRM principles of Patriotism, Pan-Africanism, Social Economic Transformation and democracy plus other measures.
She said the National Resistance Movement will present an election Manifesto to the people of Uganda, as it has done in all previous general elections since 1996 as the basis for renewing its contract of governance with the people of Uganda.
Nationwide campaigns start on November 9th.
