Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | The Bishop of Namirembe Diocese Rt. Rev. Moses Banja has asked leaders to use this year’s resurrection of Christ to repent.
The Bishop’s call comes at a time when the country is awash with several allegations of corruption in numerous government institutions including Parliament.
Preaching to Christians on Easter Sunday, the Bishop said that only God can save the country from the evil spirit of corruption.
Quoting 1 Timothy 6:10, Banja said that there is too much love for money, which is the root of all kinds of evil.
”People have lost hope as a result of few people who take what isn’t theirs, yet these people were also baptized, they also came to church. May God touch such people during this resurrection of our Savior and repent.” Banja.
The Bishop also pointed at the challenge of land grabbing which is still affecting thousands of Ugandans. “Every day we watch and hear people crying on the news that they have lost land,”Banja said.
He urged the government to come out with more stringent measures against land grabbers.
