NCBA Golf Series winners head to Nairobi

Winners were announced over the weekend in Entebbe

Entebbe, Uganda  | THE INDEPENDENT | The winners of the NCBA Golf Series qualifiers held at Entebbe Golf Club over the weekend will now advance to Nairobi for the grand finale, following an exciting weekend of fierce competition.

Mark Muyobo, CEO of NCBA Bank Uganda, highlighted the event’s significance, stating, “This series has become a key fixture in Uganda’s sporting calendar, evolving into a premier event that promotes the love of golf while building meaningful connections within the business community.”

Golf enthusiasts from all over Uganda gathered at the prestigious course, blending competitive energy with community engagement and networking opportunities.

The picturesque and challenging 18-hole Entebbe Golf Course served as the perfect setting for players to vie for their place in the grand finale, set to take place at Nairobi’s renowned Muthaiga Golf Club in November this year. Muyobo emphasized the bank’s mission to inspire greatness, noting, “This series not only promotes golf but provides an exceptional platform for players to connect and network. We are delighted to host the qualifiers at Entebbe Golf Club, known for its stunning views and demanding course.”

NCBA’s commitment to supporting golf and fostering excellence was a key theme throughout the event. Muyobo encouraged participants to continue striving for greatness both on and off the course, stating, “We urge all players to pursue excellence as the series progresses.”

Among the weekend’s champions were Anselm Olweny (Men’s category) and Berna Musanabera (Women’s category), both of whom earned spots in the grand finale in Nairobi. They will be joined by previous winners from the Uganda Golf Club qualifiers held on June 8th, 2024—Emmanuel Wamala (Men) and Eva Lwanga (Women)—and from the Jinja Golf Club event in August 2024—Brian Omeda (Men) and Lillian Koowe (Women). All six champions have earned an all-expenses-paid trip to Kenya for the December finale.

The grand finale in Nairobi will bring together winners from qualifiers across Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, and Uganda, alongside junior champions from other NCBA Golf Series tournaments. These top players will compete for the ultimate prize and regional bragging rights.

Since its inception in 2021, the NCBA Golf Series has grown into one of East Africa’s premier golfing events. Now in its fourth edition, it continues to foster strong business relationships and connections among participants and spectators, making it more than just a competition—it’s a celebration of sportsmanship, community, and excellence.
