Kampala, Uganda | GODFREY SSALI | The Land Probe Commission Chaired by Justice Catherine Bamugemereire has ordered for the arrest of National Forestry Authority Executive Director Michael Mugisa for telling lies about forest encroachment in the country.
Mugisha was handed over to the commission detectives and investigators on Monday to record a second statement revealing who the offenders against forests are and how much dealings NFA staff knows about the encroachers.
Mugisa had appeared before the commission to explain how private developers ended up having tittles in Kajjansi Central Forest Reserve .
Mugisha got in trouble after the Commission discovered that he was not telling the truth regarding how Kajjansi Forest Reserve that measures over 200 hectares has since disappeared.
The land in the forest reserve was reportedly cleared to set up an eco-tourism lodge by a firm called International Camping Sites, which is run by Cedrick Nsongoza , a brother of a prominent Kampala businessman Ephraim Ntaganda.
This is the second time Mugisha appears before the Land probe over the alleged mismanagement of forest land in the country.
The Commission received information that the whole management at NFA seems to have had a hand in these illegal dealings.
