Buganda Road Court on Thursday issued a production warrant directing Kigo Government Prison to produce former District Police Commander of Kampala Central Police station Aaron Baguma on September 6 to answer murder charges.
SP Baguma on Tuesday turned himself in to court and was remanded to Kigo and the officers ordered to produce him back today, which they failed to do. According to prisons officer Jackson Musinguzi, Baguma is sick.
Chief Magistrate Jamson Karemani issued the production warrant on the request of Resident State Attorney Jonathan Muwaganya who says they are ready to commit Baguma and three others for trial at the High Court in the case of the murder of businesswoman Dona Katushabe.
The magistrate cautioned the kigo prisons authorities to ensure Baguma’s presence next week or else he will need medical documents from them proving their claims that Baguma is unwell.
Baguma is jointly charged with Pine Car Bond proprietor Mohammed Ssebuufu and others for the alleged murder, robbery and kidnap of businesswoman Katushabe over a car purchase debt of sh9m.
They allegedly committed the offence at Lumumba Avenue in Kampala from where they beat her to death and robbed her of her mobile phone.
