Kampala, Uganda | PATRICIA AKANKWATSA | Amos Lugoloobi, Minister of State for Planning has emphasized to the new National Planning Authority (NPA) Executive Board the importance of meticulous planning, particularly in the context of realizing Uganda’s ambitious goals outlined in the Fourth National Development Plan (NDP-IV).
“The Board needs to work swiftly to guide the NPA’s technical team in crafting well-defined program plans and cascading them into effective regional and local development strategies that are firmly aligned with NDPIV,” he said at the board inauguration June 20th, 2024 at the Planning House in Kampala.
Prof. Mbabazi, reappointed chairperson of the board, pledged the board’s unwavering commitment, stating, “We are fully dedicated to fulfilling the important mandate entrusted to us. We eagerly anticipate collaborating with the remarkable NPA staff to achieve our shared goals.”
To sustain the Board’s effectiveness, Minister Lugoloobi strategically assigned specific NDPIV objectives to each member, leveraging their unique areas of expertise:
- Prof. Pamela K. Mbabazi, drawing on her experience, will spearhead efforts to strengthen the Private Sector and foster Strategic Partnerships.
- Dr. Ivan Lule will focus on driving Production, Value Addition, and Institutional Development initiatives.
- Hon. Mukitale Stephen Mukitale Adyeeri’s leadership will be crucial in advancing Infrastructure and Physical Planning projects.
- Prof. Enos Kiremire’s expertise will be invaluable in championing Human Capital Development programs.
- Hon. Lydia Wanyoto will take the lead in promoting Peace, Security, Governance, and Public Awareness campaigns.
