Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | The Uganda Nurses and Midwives Examination Board -UNMEB has asked the Ministry of Education to increase the entry points of students.

Currently, for a student to be admitted to a nursing school, they should have scored at least a pass in science subjects like Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics plus English.

The board now wants the entry requirements changed so that only students with credits in science-related subjects and English can be admitted.

John Chrysostom Muyingo, the Ministerof State for Higher Education says that the government will consider the request.

“Our main target is to produce nurses that can be employed in the East African region. We need to offer them the best education for this to happen and as the board has asked, we shall look into it.”
