Entebbe, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Conrad Odere and Shaban Ramathan overcame a gruelling test in the third round of the Singleton Match Play Challenge on Saturday at Entebbe Club.
The bespectacled pair overcame Ellis Katwebaze and Evelyn Atukunda on the 18th hole, 1 up to advance to the next stage to set up a match in the quarters with left hander Michael Odur and Brian Manyindo.
“We give credit to our opponents they gave us a tough fight on the course we are glad to advance to the next stage and we are ready for our next opponents,” Ramathan stated on the 18th Green after advancing with Odere.
Joseph Bogera and Kenneth Kiddu also advance to the last four, beating the pair of Nelson Musinguzi and Rukia Nalwoga.
“It was a tough one,” Bogera said at the club house. “We knew it was going to be a test for us we are happy with the results and are looking forward to the next round.”
Jimmy Adiga and Johnson Dairo, from West Nile Golf Club overcame 5/4 Sheila Kesiime, who battled without her opponent Peace Amooti Kabasweka, the lady captain of Toro Club, who also was hosting the Toro Ladies Open on the same day.
Entebbe Club Captain Serwano Walusimbi and Peter Magona were 1 up winners over Sarah Nduhukire and (Ret General) George Owino, the Kenya High Commissioner to Uganda.
This year’s edition of the pairs tournament is in Season 7 and is sponsored by Uganda Breweries Limited under there luxury brand Singleton Whisky with Co Sponsors NCBA Bank Uganda, Cfao Motors, DStv Uganda, Afrisafe Insurance Brokers and Uganda Airlines.
Moses Ssebugwawo and Counsel Charles Odere had a Walk over Lillian Koowe and Joyce Kisembo from Toro Club to the next stage.
