One dead, 7 injured as Fuso crashes into NWSC offices

Luweero, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | One person has been confirmed dead and seven others injured when a FUSO Truck Registration Number UBE-042A lost control and rammed into the offices of the National Water and Sewerage Corporation in Luweero district.

The truck, loaded with Bricks swerved off the Luweero-Kiwoko road in Luweero town and hit a tree, and crossed through a bodaboda stage before knocking through the building. The deceased person was a motorcycle rider who was stationed at the stage when the tragedy occurred.

Gerald Matovu, one of the eyewitnesses explains that the driver of the FUSO truck was over speeding through a sharp corner, next to the stage.

Ronald Kisaakye, the NWSC Manager in Luweero says that five of his staff and one customer have been injured by falling debris and are now receiving treatment at Mpologoma Clinic in Luweero Town. The office also lost its computers, a company vehicle Registration number  UBA 874K and other equipment which was destroyed by the accident.

Luweero District Police Commander [DPC] Abraham Tukundane confirms the death of one motorcyclist who is yet to be identified.
