Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | The Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga has asked the Ministry of Health to report to Parliament every two weeks on the status of the International Specialized Hospital in Lubowa.
This was after the Minister of Health Jane Ruth Aceng on Thursday presented a statement on the controversies surrounding the 1.4 trillion shillings hospital.
According to Aceng, there is conflict between the contractors ROKO and FINASI following the entrance of another contractor China Power to do civil works.
FINASI reportedly seeks to edge ROKO out despite having secured a joint contract.
According to Aceng, the construction of the hospital has slowed down due to the bickering.
Kadaga, who limited debate on the matter asked the Minister of Health to keep updating Parliament a least every two weeks.
The facility with a 264-bed specialized Healthcare capacity will be operated as a world-class internationally accredited facility.
It will treat conditions which have been forcing Ugandans to travel abroad.
The conditions include cancer treatment, heart diseases, organ transplant, fertility treatment, highly specialized surgeries, and bone marrow transplant, among others.
