Gulu, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Florence Lanyero, the Pastor of Rest Arena Church in Gulu town is in trouble for illegal possession of military uniform.
She was picked up from her home in Kasubi Gowans Quarters in Bardege Division in Gulu Municipality on a Sunday in a joint operation involving police and the army.
Jimmy Patrick Okema, the Aswa River Region Police Spokesperson told URN on Monday afternoon that Lanyero was found in possession of military uniform and other military hardware.
According to Okema, the suspects ran in trouble when took photos in the military uniform, which went viral on social media.
She says they haven’t established why the suspect had the military uniform, saying investigations are ongoing.
Section 164 of the UPDF Act 2005 provides that any person who by act, words, conduct or otherwise, falsely represents him/ herself to be a person who is or has been entitled to wear or use any uniform or decoration, commits and offence and is, on conviction, liable to imprisonment not exceeding three years.
