Kampala, Uganda | Aloysious Kasoma | Police has announced that it has started the search for property belonging to pension scam suspects to obtain information regarding the ownership of property.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Idi Bin Ssenkumbi they started extensive search and deployed police personnel to carry out the search in different areas around Kampala and other suburbs.
Ssenkumbi said that police today is carrying out investigations in King Fahad Plaza, Twed Towers on Lumumba Avenue, Cairo Bank and Intercontinental in Kibuli. He was addressing Journalists today at the Central Police Station (CPS)
This comes after the Police moved to block any transfer of property belonging to suspects implicated in the pensions scam and the companies linked to them.
The suspects are Jimmy Lwamafa (permanent secretary), Steven Kiwanuka Kunsa (director of research and development), Obey Christopher (principal accountant), David Oloka (assistant senior accountant in charge of pensions), Joan Nantwenda (principal personnel officer), Steven Lwanga and Fred Tumusime.
Ten companies are suspected to be owned by or linked to the suspects. The Police want the lands ministry to halt any transfers of the property.
