There is tension in Mbale.

Mbale, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Police and the military today deployed heavily at Mutoto cultural site located in Industrial city division in Mbale city after learning that the coronation function of Amuram Wagabyalile, the new elected Masaba cultural leader, is going to take place from there.

According to Rogers Taitika, the Elgon region police spokesperson, police officers were deployed in big number at the cultural site to stop the institution from carrying out their activities of coronation.

This was after learning that the rival side of Mike Mudoma who claims to be the rightfully elected cultural leader, planned to attack them. He adds that as police they wanted to prevent chaos which was bound to happen as the two sides clashed.

However, Erick Mukhwana the public relation officer of Masaba cultural institution has condemned police for getting involved in cultural matters.  He accused police of conniving with Mudoma who is fighting the institution, saying that they are going to sit down and come up with new dates of coronation for  Wagabyalila .
