Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT  | Police has destroyed over 50 hectares of Marjuana gardens in Bwaaya and Hawadoda villages in Masinya sub-county in Busia district.

The gardens were destroyed on Monday in an operation led by Tinka Zarugaba, the acting Anti-nicotine commissioner in the fight against illegal trade and consumption of the banned substance in the area.

Zarugaba says the destroyed marijuana was worth shillings 200 million.

He cautioned people against growing Marjuana and opt for other crops or else risk facing the law.

Patrick Juma, a resident of Hawadoda village, says marijuana growing has been the main source of his household income, which has helped him educate his children.
