Mitooma, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Police in Mitooma District are hunting for a witch doctor who allegedly connived with three others to poison and kill a 45-year-old man in Butagatsi village, Mitooma District.

The others, who are also on the run include Ruth Muhairwe, the deceased’s wife,  Patrick Mukisa, and another person only known as Kabyogamo.

Marcial Tumusiime, the greater Bushenyi police spokesperson has identified the deceased as Emmanuel Nshimeyimana, a resident of Nyamwegabira village, Nkoko Sub-county in Kakumiro District.

Tumusiime explains that Nsimeyimana, his Wife Ruth Muhairwe and Patrick Mukisa came from Kakumiro District to search for traditional healers to track people who had broken into their shop.

They ended up at the home of Kabyogamu, a known Conman, who allegedly gave them an intoxicated drink after taking 500,000 Shillings from them. Nsimeyimana died in a house belonging to the witch doctor moments after taking the said drink.

Ruti 1 village chairperson Venensio Kansiiime, said the body was picked from the house by Kabyogamu’s Friends and dumped in Kashenshero Sub County.  Kansiime said that the deceased was identified by passersby who had seen him enter Kabyogamu’s house with two other people who were also on the run.

Tumusiime said the body was recovered from Ruti where it had been dumped and delivered to Kitagata Hospital in Sheema District for post-mortem as investigations take shape to have the suspects arrested and taken to courts of law.
