Police impound stolen truck in Hoima city

Hoima, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | The police in Hoima city has impounded a suspected stolen vehicle.

Police impounded the Box-Body truck registration number UEB 530Z at around 7am on Monday along the Hoima-Butiaba road in East division, Hoima city.

One suspect Shafik Murungi 28, the driver was arrested and is detained at Hoima Central Police Station.

Julius Hakiza, the Albertine Region Police Spokesperson says they were alerted on Sunday evening by their counterparts at Ntinda Police Station in Kampala that there was a stolen vehicle from Kampala that was heading towards Hoima.

After availing them with the particulars of the vehicle, they immediately deployed personnel along the road.

He says on Monday morning while using the CCTV cameras installed in various parts of Hoima city, the vehicle was sighted parked along the Hoima-Butiaba road near Kolping Hotel in Hoima city.

According to Hakiza, a team of detectives and other police officers immediately rushed to the area where the vehicle had been parked and impounded it, and arrested the driver.

Hakiza has appealed to vehicle owners to install tracking devices and report such incidents to the police to help with quick recovery.
