Soroti, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Police have arrested a security guard attached to SGA Security after they stormed Equity Bank Soroti Branch this morning after a reported attempted robbery last night.
Police spokesman Fred Enanga confirmed the incident, saying that an attempt was made to rob Equity Bank in Soroti City and a security guard and his supervisor are being interrogated as part of investigations.
“Our joint task team from the police and UPDF responded swiftly and staged at the bank. Our prior investigations indicate that the suspects escaped from the scene after failing to access the banking hall. No one was hurt, and no property or money was stolen,” Enanga said.
Francis Erumu, the Manager of Equity Bank Soroti, says that everything at the bank is intact despite the attempted robbery. He However, didn’t provide further details.
Unconfirmed reports indicate that five gunmen had raided the bank.
