PS Bigirimana defends self over sex book

Dr. Flavian Zeija hails PS Bigirimana for his new books

Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | The Permanent Secretary to the Judiciary Dr Pius Bigirimana has defended his newly launched book about sex, saying he didn’t write about it as an academician, but rather as a concerned caring parent.

The book titled Naked Truth was launched by the Chief Justice Alfonse Owiny Dollo about three weeks ago. The book that has a chapter on how and when sex should be done has gained controversy on social media platforms with many people criticizing it because of the profane language used by the author Bigirimana.

However on Monday, Bigirimana while at the judiciary headquarters in company of the Principal Judge Dr. Flavian Zeija said he did not write the said book as an academician, neither a scholar, but he wrote it as a parent with children but also as a person who cares about what happens in this institution called marriage.

He said he wrote it for those who are in marriage and those who are aspiring to get married to understand the sex subject and expect it as the main reason for the union for a man and a woman and without it families are breaking down.

According to Bigirimana, the conversation in his book is about Africans sex magic and in it, he dared to unravel the mysteries of human sexuality and magic hidden within the African traditions. He said as he wrote, he reflected on the inter collectedness of people’s bodies and spirits.

“There is a chapter which is talking about your mind, location. If you look at chapter three you will understand what am talking about. In basing our sexuality we unlock the doors to a deeper understanding of ourselves and our cultural heritage,” said Bigirimana.

He added that the main massage here in the book is that sex should not be looked as a mere physical act but it should be seen as a system of intimacy to incorporate emotions, physical, spiritual and a bonding act.

He noted that young people need to know that sex is not a joking matter around the marriage and should go knowing that it something that they should respect.

Bigirimana revealed this while at the launch of his six book titled “A Small Book of Big Quotes” edited by Ronald Nabimanya which is a summary of his six publications so far.

Other books include that about the Northern War in Uganda entitled From Tears to Cheers, which is a brief analysis on the reconstruction of Northern Uganda between 2007-2012, and that he was motivated by those who were claiming that Government had done nothing to help the people in Northern Uganda and the COVID 19 Lockdown Chronicles, Abundance Mentality among others.

The Principal Judge Dr. Flavian Zeija who was the Chief Guest  has called upon the need for recognizing and quoting local writers so as to provide encouragement and support to emerging talent.

He said this fosters a culture of creativity and innovation, nurturing the next generation of storytellers. “Celebrating our local writers can also have a profound impact on literacy rates and the love of reading within our communities. When we quote their words, we inspire others to explore their works, fostering a culture of reading and intellectual curiosity,” said Zeija.
