PWD: Two MPs thrown out of parliament

The Court of Appeal has thrown out two Independent MPs  representing Persons With Disabilities in Uganda’s parliament.

Thrown out on Thursday are Wilson Norkrach for Northern Region and Hood Katuramu for Western Region on grounds of  lack  of the requisite  academic qualifications and bribery  of voters respectively.

Justices Remmy Kasule, Elizabeth Musoke and Catherine Bamugemereire concurred with the petitioners   Achan Joyce  and Dr. Bernard  Mayanja  that the High Court was wrong to dismiss their election petitions .

The  Court of Appeal has now ordered the Electoral Commission to organise fresh elections  to fill the vacant posts and awarded  costs to the petitioners.
