Las Vegas, U.S. | Xinhua | U.S. tech giant Qualcomm announced on Wednesday Snapdragon Ride Flex SoC (System-on-Chip), which is the automotive industry’s first scalable family of SoCs to simultaneously support digital cockpit and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).
The Snapdragon Ride Flex SoC supports mixed-criticality workloads, allowing for digital cockpit, ADAS and automated driving (AD) capabilities to be co-implemented on the same hardware, according to Qualcomm.
The company announced the new portfolio on the media day of the 2023 Consumer Electronics Show (CES), which will officially kick off in Las Vegas on Thursday and run through Sunday.
Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Ride Platforms are adopted by leading automotive companies to create safe, scalable and updatable ADAS and AD solutions.
“As the industry’s only scalable and open system designed for ADAS and AD, we are pleased with the steady momentum our Snapdragon Ride Platforms have had since their introduction in 2020,” said Nakul Duggal, senior vice president and general manager, Automotive at Qualcomm.
Qualcomm also introduced a new concept vehicle showcasing how the Snapdragon Digital Chassis solutions integrate technologies from a diverse ecosystem of companies to deliver experiences that are highly personalized and intuitive, including immersive infotainment, driver assistance, and enhanced safety.
Electric vehicles (EVs) will be a major category at CES 2023. Besides announcing new vehicles, exhibitors will reveal innovations on connectivity, increased leveraging of machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) for features like self-driving technology.
Apart from major carmakers, a number of automotive suppliers will have a presence at CES 2023, the world’s premier tech show, which draws over 3,100 exhibitors from 170 countries and regions.
