Rodel Gaita wins Professional Golfers Challenge

Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Rodel Gaita Kisembo, won the second Professional Golfers Challenge on Friday at the Uganda Golf Club.

The Kampala based professional won on a play-off, beating Grace Kasango and Joseph Cwinyaai after all returning with similar scores of 1 under par 70.

The trio then returned to holes 12, 17 and 18 to determine the winner of the challenge with Gaita, beating his challengers by a stroke.

“It’s a great initiative and I feel great winning here. This is good and I hope we can continue with such challenges and tournaments like this,” Kisembo stated. “It’s a good build up ahead of the Uganda Open next month.

A total of 19 members of Uganda Professional Golfers Association took part with 4 elite Amateurs taking part in this tournament.

The Kitty for the day was sh4.2million, with Gaita winning the biggest share.

The Monthly Challenge is an initiative started by Golfers to keep the Professional Golfers busy through the year.

The Golfers hope with this challenge they can land sponsorship for it to eventually turn into a local Pro Golf tour.

Adolf Muhumuza, won the first Challenge recently.
