Uganda ?? 215/8 (50 ov) | Denmark ??129 (29 ov, target: 131)
Uganda won by 1 run (D/L) method
Kuala Lumpar, Malaysia | THE INDEPENDENT | All was going well for Uganda, having set Denmark 215 and with them crawling towards it at 74/3 off 23.4 overs, when rain interrupted play.
At that point, Uganda was ahead by 16 if the rain continued and the Duckworth–Lewis (D/L) method was used. The DL is a mathematical formulation designed to calculate the target score for the team batting second in a limited overs cricket match interrupted by weather.
It stopped raining and the DL came into play, giving Denmark a lifeline as they now needed just 57 off 5.2 overs to win the match.
It was an uphill task for Uganda to contain the Danes, who even got an appetite for sixes. Bharaj hit one and Said another to add to only one they had got earlier, as they now needed 27 off their last 3 overs. It was soon 11 off the last 2 overs with 5 wickets remaining, and 5 off the last 6 balls.
In stepped captain and and Right Arm Off Spinner Roger Mukasa for an amazing spell of bowling, in which four wickets fell as Uganda held on to win by 1 run.
The win virtually assures Uganda of one of two top places needed to advance to the ICC World Cricket League Division 3 from Division 4.
