Ntungamo, Uganda |  THE INDEPENDENT |  The Ruhaama county Forum for Democratic Change-FDC parliamentary candidate, Isaac Nuwagaba has petitioned the Electoral Commission contesting the academic documents of his National Resistance Movement-NRM party rival, Henry Nkwasibwe Zinkuratire.

In his petition, Nuwagaba, says that he inspected the nomination papers of his opponent on October 22nd, 2020 at the Ntungamo Electoral Commission offices and found out that his rival completed his bachelors of law degree under mature age entry in 2019, a year after completing his Uganda Certificate of Education in 2018 from Entebbe secondary school.

He faults the returning officer of failing in his responsibility to inspect Nkwasibwe’s academic transcripts. He also wonders how the National Council of Higher Education equates Nkwasibwe’s senior 4 academic result slip without a verified Ordinary certificate from Uganda National Examinations Board.

He contends that all the academic documents that Nkwasibwe presented for his nomination Electoral Commission are questionable and require thorough scrutiny. Nuwagaba has also threatened to sue the Electoral Commission for failing to verify the academic documents of his rivals.

Nkwasibwe has asked his rival to start his investigations from the schools where he obtained the contested academic documents.

Electoral Commission is yet to respond to the petition.
