While the cancer radiotherapy machine broke down at Mulago Hospital, a health crowdfunding cause united Ugandans. It was for a one Carol Atuhirwe who needed UGX 270 million for surgery in the United States. Atuhirwe is one of the many cancer patients in Uganda, however her case was unique.
However, even though the full amount was raised, Dr. Ruth Aceng the Director General of Health Services says Atuhirwe may not be about to travel to the US. This follows reports from the medical team in the US which has now re-considered the surgery option and advised the family to seek an alternative health facility.
