Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | The managing director of Victory School of Beauty Nateete, Robert Kasibante has been remanded to Luzira prison on charges of forgery, uttering a false document and obtaining money by false pretense.
Kasibante on Friday evening was arraigned before the Buganda Road Grade One Magistrate Siena Owomugisha and charged with six offenses.
The court heard that on December 17th 2021 in Kampala district, Kasibante forged a United States of America visas for two people, Freda Kezia Nyamahunge and Gloria Naluzze Katumba.
He has also been charged with uttering a false document of the said visas purporting to have been issued by the Embassy of the United States of America in Kampala.
According to the prosecution’s case, Kasibante prior to obtaining these fake visas, had earlier on December 2nd 2021 obtained 3,400 dollars (12.8 million shillings) from Nyamahunge with intent to defraud her by falsely pretending that he was to process for her two United States of America visas and hotel arrangements in the United States whereas not.
On the same day, it is alleged that he obtained 2 million shillings by false pretense from her indicating that he was going to pay a late payment (surcharge) for processing the said visas.
But Kasibante denied the charges and was remanded until 2nd August 2022.
According to information obtained from police, Kasibante deceived his victims that he would act as a middleman between them and the United States of America Embassy in Kampala and enable them process and acquire travel visas.
But they later verified and found out that their documents were not genuine hence reporting the case to police.
He was then arrested on Monday from Nateete and produced in court, according to the Deputy Spokesperson of Uganda Police Force Luke Owoyesigyire.
This is not the first time that Kasibante is being arrested on cases related to forgery. In 2019, sources in police say he was arrested for obtaining 19 million shillings by false pretense from a Chief Magistrate saying that he was going to help her get a State House Scholarship for her child. He also allegedly forged Vice President Jessica Alupo’s signature to show that she is the one who had recommended the travel documents for his victims.
