Jinja, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Two Uganda People’s Defense Forces-UPDF imposters are in custody at the Jinja based Gaddafi barracks.

Simon Waiswa and Muzamiru Kawuzi were picked up from Buwenge town council on Wednesday evening for illegally using military attire to rob unsuspecting members of the public.

The arrest of the suspects followed public complaints implicating them for robbing them at gunpoint. It is alleged that the two have been waylaying commuter taxis where they would command travellers to surrender their valuables or risk death.

The suspects who were paraded at Gadaffi barracks this morning confessed to owning army uniforms and denied being in possession of firearms.

Edwin Mawanda, the Jinja zone UPDF spokesperson says the suspects have been terrorizing people in Kamuli, Luuka and Jinja district.

He says the suspects will appear in the UPDF court martial for illegal possession of a firearm and government stores.
