Security beefed up ahead of Kasese’s Rwenzori Theluji Festival

Kasese, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Security has been beefed up in Kasese district ahead of the third edition of the Rwenzori Theluji Festival.  This year’s festival will take place on Saturday starting with the marathon.

The festival is a showcase of the uniqueness of biodiversity in and around Kasese.

The Rwenzori East Police Spokesperson, Nelson Tumuhsiime says that athletes from Kenya and Kapchorwa have already arrived in the district and they will be inspecting the marathon routes.

To ensure the safety of both the athletes and the anticipated fans, Tumushiime said they are heightening patrols and carrying out security meetings with various groups of people including leaders and hotel owners.

Tumushiime said they are also beefing up the district traffic team aware that the event is expected to attract many people. He also cautions drivers ahead of the end of the school term.

John Henry Baguma, the secretary general of Kasese Investment Forum-KIF who is the lead organiser of the festival says the events are expected to be officially opened by the Rwenzururu Cultural Leader Charles Wesley Mumbere.

This edition’s theme is, Our Culture, Our Heritage, Our Diversity, Live It, Love It.
