Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | The National Resistance Movement (NRM) mobilization team plans to hold celebrations across Uganda to honor President Yoweri Museveni’s political legacy.

Rosemary Nansubuga Seninde, the NRM director for mobilization, announced this while thanking attendees and supporters of the inaugural event on July 5, 2024, at Kololo ceremonial grounds.

Seninde explained that these regional celebrations aim to include those who couldn’t attend the inaugural event due to distance, allowing more people to participate. The team is consulting with the president on the details of these events.

She assured Ugandans that the setup from the Kololo event would be replicated in different regions so that no one misses out. Seninde emphasized that these celebrations are not a campaign drive for Museveni, as it is not yet election time. She reminded me that it is the Electoral Commission’s mandate to declare campaign periods.

“Ladies and gentlemen, it is Justice Byabakama who will be able to tell us when we will be starting campaigns. We are only celebrating the achievements of a great man and the NRM. In other words, we are reminding Ugandans that the NRM manifesto, especially for this term, has had some achievements,” she said.

Seninde highlighted the success of the inaugural event, noting that it demonstrated the appreciation and love for President Museveni. She reported that 6,548 people were treated at the medical camp, and 970 units of blood were collected. The event was funded by contributions from well-wishers, with no state money used.

The event included attendees from various political groups, including the Patriot League of Uganda. Seninde emphasized the NRM’s openness to collaborating with political formations that support Museveni’s agenda.

“As far as I am concerned, PLU is one of the pressure groups that supported the function in Kololo. So there is no way we could not work with anybody who adds a brick to the development of NRM and mostly supports President Museveni. We welcome and bring everybody on board, but we will fight anybody who fights President Museveni and the NRM,” she stated.
