The State has withdrawn the “Traffic Offence” case against Uganda opposition leader Dr Kizza Besigye, as Kasangati court prepared to make a ruling.
Besigye’s lawyer Ernest Kalibbala objected to the withdrawal, saying what was going on was “state abuse.” (VIDEO BOTTOM)
“We are shocked by the decision by the state to withdraw the case yet there was only one witness remaining,” Kalibbala argued.
The state argued that it is constitutional to withdraw from the case, which the magistrate did.
Besigye was accused of disobedience of lawful orders and leading a procession in traffic around Mulago in April that was not sanctioned by police.
